EK Myerson (b. 1995) is an artist & writer using materiality & associative wordplay to avoid dissociation. Through text, sculpture, drawing and film, they offer a fragmentary invitation to reflect on queer life and touch. Their practice is rooted in archival research but unravels into speculative, auto-fictional and conversational forms, giving a sense of history as something intimately felt. Their approaches include welding & lost wax casting. They are currently completing their MA in Contemporary Art Practice at the RCA.
Before arriving at the RCA, EK was working as a medievalist. They have a PhD in medieval literature (Birkbeck College, 2022) & their first book, The Desire for Syria in Medieval England, was published by Cambridge University Press in 2025. From September 2026-2029, EK will be based at UCL as a Wellcome Trust-funded ECR. Their new practice-based project, ‘Vinegar as Biotechnology’, explores medieval alchemy & gender transition through research and artistic methods.
