For my series, But these misgivings proved to be unjus-, I worked with an empty 450g box of Palestinian dates, which I kept as a souvenir after Emii Alrai & I ate them while writing an essay together in July 2024. I collected and collaged texts related to the premodern & contemporary date trade, which I found in the Warburg Institute. Works from this series were selected for the RCA Palestine Society show in the Hockney Gallery (1/03/25).
To accompany these works, I created a free zine of an internal bulletin which my great-uncle Hosea Jaffe wrote for the South African Communist Party in 1946, ‘On Palestine and the Jews’.
