These two interlinked short films are the beginnings of an ongoing series of works investigating the relationship between premodern alchemy & contemporary gender transition. Both were screened at the Birkbeck Institute of the Moving Image, 18 July 2025.

Sophie Mei Birkin and I created this essay-film together based on my research in the Derek Jarman archives. We worked with Bartek Dziadosz as cinematographer and editor. The film premiered at the Birkbeck Institute for the Moving Image on 2nd December 2022, introduced by Professor Robert Mills.
